The University of Florida (UF) is Florida’s land-grant, AAU-member research-1 institution.  In 2020 the university launched its AI initiative, a comprehensive program to propel UF’s leadership in AI research, technology transfer, and workforce development. In partnership with NVIDIA and OpenACC, UF is hosting a one-day online AI Bootcamp on Saturday, Oct. 23rd.  The event will teach researchers how AI can accelerate HPC simulations with deep neural networks, including data pre-processing. Attendees will also learn how to build, compare, and improve the accuracy of deep learning models. The NVIDIA-UF AI Bootcamp event will introduce real-world problems to learn AI concepts by applying step-by-step instructions using learned techniques.

The event will utilize resources from HiPerGator AI, UF’s supercomputer, currently ranked No. 22 in world and No. 2 in U.S. higher education. Due to limited capacity, the University of Florida students and faculty will be prioritized during the registration process.

Event Format

This one-day Bootcamp will be hosted online in the Eastern Time (ET) zone on October 23rd. All communication will be done through Zoom, Slack and email.

Basic experience with Python. No GPU programming or AI knowledge is required. This event has limited capacity, so please make sure that prerequisites are met before applying.

GPU Compute Resources

Attendees will be given access to GPU compute resources on HiPerGator AI, the University of Florida supercomputer, for the duration of the Bootcamp.

HiPerGator, supercomputer at UF, is composed of HiPerGator 3.0 (with over 70,000 CPU cores, 600 NVIDIA GPUs and 14 PB of high performance storage,) and HiPerGator AI, the  NVIDIA DGX A100 SuperPOD with 17,000 CPU cores, 1120 Ampere A100 GPUs, and 2.5 PB of all-flash storage. HiPerGator AI, the universal system for AI workloads, is currently ranked at No. 22 on the TOP500 list and No. 2 among universities nationwide.
